Polar Begins Updating Their M600 Watch To Android Wear 2.0

Polar has begun updating their M600 smartwatch to Android Wear 2.0 starting today, bringing all of the new features of the latest version of the software to users who own the device. This includes most notably things like the Play Store so users can install apps to the M600 directly from the watch itself instead of having to rely on the companion versions of applications that are first installed on the connected smartphone, but also things like a more streamlined notification system with the visual tweaks and changes to the way you interact with the cards that pop up on screen.

The update is starting today, but Polar also notes that the update is continuing on though the weekend and that they’re going to be rolling it out to all users over the next week, so that means that some users will see the update today, while others may not see it until tomorrow, the next day after that, or not until sometime next week. That being said, users can also check manually to see if the update is available and hope for the best, but keep in mind that the M600 will also automatically alert users to the update so if you aren’t in any rush to land on the new software then you can just sit back and relax until it shows up on its own.

The Polar M600 is just the latest Android Wear smartwatch to make the jump to Android Wear 2.0, as Fossil has already started rolling out the update to some of their watches, and both Nixon and Huawei promised the update was hitting their devices this month as well, though due to a bug that was found in the software it seems those devices have yet to be updated. Now that it’s receiving the update the M600 joins the handful of new smartwatches that were announced so far this year that come with the software out of the box, like the LG Watch Sport and LG Watch Style, the new TAG Heuer Connected Modular, the Huawei Watch 2, the three new watches from Movado Group, and all of the new Android Wear watches from the Fossil Group.
