It seems like Huawei decided to delay Android Nougat update for the Huawei P9 Lite, unfortunately. According to a new report, Huawei has decided to delay the update, but the source says that it is still not known why they did it. According to the provided info, the company will start updating Huawei P9 Lite units sometime in the second quarter of this year, but we still don’t know when exactly. This means that you will have to wait a bit longer before you get this update, but if the provided info is accurate, Huawei will start updating the P9 Lite units before the end of June.
Now, some of you are probably aware that Huawei has been testing this update for the Huawei P9 Lite for quite some time now. The update has been in beta stage for a while, and the company was expected to release it really soon, but it seems like we’ll get it in the other half of the second quarter, unfortunately. If the report is to be believed, something went wrong along the way, and Huawei doesn’t seem confident that the update is ready for a final release, it is probably not stable enough just yet. If that’s the case, we doubt anyone would mind waiting a bit longer in order to get a proper Android Nougat experience, as bugs can really ruin everything, especially if they’re major ones and affect the performance of a device.
Now, on top of Android Nougat, the Huawei P9 Lite users will also get Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) skin. Huawei will push Android 7.0 Nougat to the P9 Lite users, but it remains to be seen if they intend to install EMUI 5.0 or EMUI 5.1 on top of it, as both of those variants are based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Now, it is worth mentioning that Emotion UI 5.0 and 5.1 brings a ton of new features compared to Emotion UI 4.1 which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Huawei has decided to redesign their UI, and make it more Android-like, as it brings a ton of Nougat features along with it, and the company received a lot of praise because of it.
