Rogers, Bell, Fido, & Virgin Mobile Now Selling The LG V20

The LV V20 is now available in Canada through Rogers, Bell, Fido, and Virgin Mobile. At the end of October 2016, the LG V20 arrived in Canada, but only via Freedom Mobile and Videotron – a strange departure for such a high-end device. However, according to Shelly Walla, brand manager of mobile communications at LG Canada, they wanted to expand its availability due to its popularity. Rogers is now selling the LG V20 outright for $999 CAD off contract, while on a two-year Premium+ Tab plan, it can be yours for $279, or it will cost you $479 on a two-year Premium Tab plan. At Rogers’ Fido, the LG V20 is cheapest on a two-year Plus35 plan for $479, but then jumps to $579 on a two-year Plus15 plan, and is available at the same $999 on a no-term contract. On Bell, the LG V20 will start at $299 on a two-year $50 a month data plan, $400 on a two-year $25 a month plan, and $999 off-contract. Virgin Mobile has yet to release their pricing. All four carriers will only be selling the 64GB variant in the ‘Titan’ color.

The LG V20 is one of the high-end phones from LG and is designed for those that want to carry a device with excellent visual and audio standards. It is forged from a block of aircraft aluminum with small silicone bumpers on the top and bottom for protection against drops. The V20 adds a smaller secondary display on top of the standard 5.7-inch Quad HD IPS primary display that packs 513 pixels-per-inch (PPI). The secondary display will save the V20’s battery life by dishing out your notifications without the main display turning on. LG snatched up the Snapdragon 820 quad-core processor with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 64GB of the faster UFS 2.0 internal memory that is expandable via a microSD card.

The camera area is an exciting one thanks to the inclusion of a rear dual setup consisting of a 16-megapixel sensor and an 8-megapixel wide-angle sensor. The cameras operate independently from each other so if you need a family or landscape shot; you can call on the 8MP camera to capture it all. In the sound department, LG went all out, and the V20 is the first smartphone to incorporate four DACs (Digital-to-Analog Convertors), as well as an excellent EQ with left and right balance controls, and is B&O Play certified. Although, LG did not include a pair of front-facing stereo speakers to take advantage of the electronics without having to use a headset. The V20 measures 159.7 x 78.1 x 7.6 mm and weighs in at 174 grams and was one of the first new devices to run Android 7.0 (Nougat) out of the box.
