Nubia Mobile – previously a subsidiary of ZTE Mobile – is seemingly working on bringing two new smartphones to the market. The two devices weren’t present at Mobile World Congress 2017 along with the Nubia N1, but instead, they have been recently listed on the website of the Chinese telecommunication regulatory agency TENAA flaunting model numbers “NX573J” and “NX551J”. Although pricing and availability details are missing, TENAA has revealed most of these smartphones’ hardware characteristics including their overall dimensions.
Starting off with the less powerful Nubia NX573J, the smartphone accommodates a 5.5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1280 x 720, and is powered by an unspecified SoC (System-on-Chip) featuring an eight-core 1.5 GHz processor, and 3 GB of RAM. The handset is listed as having 64 GB of on-board memory expandable via microSD, as well as a 16-megapixel main camera complemented by a 13-megapixel front-facing sensor. In overall, the Nubia NX573J should run Android 6.0 Marshmallow and rely on a 2,900 mAh battery housed in a body measuring 155.7 x 76.7 x 7.68mm and weighing 160 grams.
On the other hand, the Nubia NX551J fits more into the upper mid-range market. It delivers a 5.5-inch OLED display with a higher resolution of 1920 x 1080, and although it also relies on an 8-core unnamed processor, the unit is clocked at a higher frequency of up to 2.0 GHz per core. Furthermore. the Nubia NX551J has 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage expandable via microSD, all the while accommodating a dual main camera setup featuring at least one 16-megapixel sensor. The secondary sensor is unspecified (although it is clearly visible in the photo gallery), but the website mentions that the front-facing unit should have a resolution of 13-megapixels. Lastly, the Nubia NX551J runs Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow, it relies on a more generous 3,560 mAh battery, and measures 154.57 x 76.02 x 7.3mm while tipping the scales at 170 grams. Both models support Bluetooth, LTE and VoLTE (Voice-over-LTE) and seem to be wrapped in a metal unibody design as given away by the antenna bands going across their back panels at the top and bottom. At the moment there’s no word on pricing and availability, but it’s safe to assume that the Nubia NX551J will carry a higher price tag whereas the Nubia NX573J will enter the market as a budget-friendlier alternative.
