Xiaomi Expands Mi Ecosystem in China With New Products

Today Xiaomi announced a wide range of consumer electronics products as part of its Mi Ecosystem in China. This includes the Xiaomi Mi Driving Recorder, Xiaomi Mi Smart Scale 2, Xiaomi Mi Smart Camera, as well as the Xiaomi Mi Router HD and Mi Router Pro. The family of products also accommodates the Xiaomi Mi Walkie Talkie available for 249 Chines yuan, and all the products are expected to go on sale in China by the end of the day.

Starting off with the Xiaomi Mi Driving Recorder, this product is technically a dashboard camera designed for automobiles. It’s equipped with a Sony IMX323 1/2.9-inch sensor featuring 160-degree wide-angle lens and an f/1.8 aperture, as well as an Mstar image processing chip with Full HD (1080p) video recording capabilities in a variety of lighting conditions including night time. The Xiaomi Mi Driving Recorder is available for 349 Chinese yuan, or roughly $59.

Moving on to the Xiaomi Mi Smart Scale 2, it can measure a wide variety of biometric data – up to 10 types of readings – including the user’s weight as well as the muscle mass, visceral fat grade, bone mass and body fat rate. The device has a relatively slim design with a 14.56mm profile; it has an LED numerical display and features a Stainless Steel 303L electrode pad for more accurate biometric readings. The Xiaomi Mi Smart Scale 2 is available today for the price of 199 yuan or around $29 at today’s conversion rate.

Next in line is the Xiaomi Mi Smart Camera which takes the form of a webcam with video recording capabilities of 1080p at 20fps. It has 130-degree ultra-wide angle lens and a total of eight 940nm infrared sensors surrounding the main camera, enabling night vision recording at distances of up to 10 meters. Last but not least, it can provide remote access through dual-band Wi-Fi, and offers expandable storage via microSD. The Xiaomi Mi Smart Camera is available for 199 yuan ($29).

In closing, the Chinese tech giant is also releasing the Xiaomi Mi Router HD and Mi Router Pro unveiled at CES 2017. The latter takes advantage of a Qualcomm IPQ8084 network processor and supports Wi-Fi 802.11ac along with 4×4 MU-MIMO. The Xiaomi Mi Router HD incorporates a 3.5-inch 1TB hard drive with 64MB cache, but can also be acquired with an 8TB HDD featuring 256MB cache. Additionally, it takes advantage of 512MB DDR3 RAM, a USB 3.0 port, LAN and WAN ports, 4 high-gain PCB array omnidirectional antennas, and everything is wrapped in a body made from aluminum alloy. On the other hand, the Xiaomi Mi Router Pro houses a MediaTek MT7621A network processor and takes advantage of 2600Mbps Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 4×4 MU-MIMO, 512MB DDR3 RAM, and the same antenna setup and port configuration as the Mi Router HD. The Xiaomi Mi Router HD with 1TB of storage is available for 1,299 yuan ($188) whereas the Xiaomi Mi Router Pro carries a price tag of 499 yuan ($72). All the products mentioned above are available for purchase from the company’s online store in China, however, it remains to be seen if they will see a market release outside the company’s homeland through third-party retailers.
