Astro, an intelligent email app for Android devices is now available in public beta shortly after launching on iOS and macOS. Developed by a Palo Alto, California-based startup of the same name, Astro aims to transform the way in which people use email by combining traditional functionalities of electronic mail with artificial intelligence (AI) solutions in an effort to offer the ultimate mobile email client. Astro offers native support for Gmail and Office 365 accounts, so anyone interested in giving the app a go can start using it within seconds of installing it without going through any additional registration procedures. One of the main selling points of this communications tool is an AI-powered chatbot called Astrobot designed to help users manage their emails, clean their inboxes from spam and other undesirable content, and push priority items to the top of their lists. Astrobot becomes operational soon after a user launches Astro for the first time, after which the digital companion will aim to assist them with their emails on a regular basis and offer to schedule personalized reminders related to the contents of your emails.
Other key features of Astro include Email Reply Tracking, Priority Inbox, Send Later, Snooze, and Mute functionalities, the app’s developers revealed, adding that their latest Android tool also boasts support for multiple accounts and customizable notifications. While Astro initially debuted on macOS and iOS, the Android version of the app isn’t a direct port and was instead built from the ground up for owners of devices powered by Google’s open source operating system, the California-based startup said. Due to that state of affairs, the app adheres to all of the modern guidelines of Google’s Material Design, features smart and personalized push notifications, and boasts support for Kindle Fire and Android Wear devices. Following its successful launch on Android, Astro will also debut on Windows at some point in the future, its developers revealed. Likewise, the AI-powered email management tool will feature support for Alexa and a number of enterprise tools further down the road, though there’s still no specific time frame for the rollout of those functionalities.
