LG seems to be planning to increase the number of applications that are fully optimized for the LG G6. As many of you know, the LG G6 comes with the company’s ‘Full Vision’ display, and that display doesn’t exactly have your standard 16:9 aspect ratio. The LG G6’s display comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio, which means that some content gets cut off on the sides, when you’re watching a video, for example. Well, it seems like LG is doing their best to amend this, read on.
LG announced that, by next month, their app store will feature 300 apps that will fully support the LG G6’s Full Vision display. At the moment, you’ll find around 200 such applications in LG’s SmartWorld store, which is not bad, but LG is certainly making a push in order to amend issues they’ve created by releasing a display with such an aspect ratio. That being said, LG is not the only company that released a smartphone which boasts a display with a rather odd aspect ratio, Samsung did the same thing, though the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus sport panels which come with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. Both companies are convinced that such an aspect ratio will offer consumers a more immersive, superior experience while playing games or watching videos. The LG G6, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus also have really thin bezels all around, so that will definitely help when it comes to immersiveness of the content as well.
There you have it, LG’s ‘Full Vision’ display isn’t exactly a problem, but it’s good to hear that the company is doing their best to get ahead of Samsung, and offer some apps that are completely optimized for the Full Vision display. LG will certainly do their best to offer some extra usability when it comes to such apps, as they did in the LG G6’s camera app of example. While you’re taking a picture, you have access to images that are in your gallery (your camera’s folder), and you can scroll through them. That is only one example of a neat feature that is made available thanks to LG’s tall display, and if LG manages to include such features in a ton more apps, and make third-party developers to do the same, consumers will certainly appreciate it.
