Report: 'HTC U 11' Will Be The Name of Their Next Flagship

HTC’s next flagship is due to launch next month, after the company confirmed it would be announced on May 16th. Now according to a report from Evleaks, it appears that the retail name of this smartphone won’t be just the HTC U, but the HTC U 11. This is because the HTC U will be the company’s eleventh flagship device, and it will be a successor to the HTC 10, whether it was meant to be or not. This is the smartphone that was codenamed HTC Ocean, and has been leaking out in all directions as of late.

The HTC U 11 will be available in five different colors, although the colors were not mentioned in this report. It’s safe to say that black and white will likely be among the five. A black model appear in several leaks already. The HTC U 11 is rumored to be sporting a 5.5-inch display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 and 6GB of RAM with 64GB of storage. It’s said to be the company’s most high-end flagship in quite some time, really throwing in all of the high-end specs into this one. The HTC U 11 is also going to have an interesting “squeezing” gesture that can be used for different things. They hinted at it in the announcement yesterday, but everyone will have to wait until May 16th to see what it really can do.

This latest smartphone will join HTC’s newest line of smartphones, which is the U Ultra and U Play, announced in January just after CES. The HTC U 11 will be positioned above both of those smartphones, since it does sport the Snapdragon 835, while the HTC U Ultra is a larger smartphone and the U Play is slightly smaller and lower-end. The HTC U 11 is shaping up to be a pretty spectacular device, but now with LG and Samsung’s latest smartphones out and available for consumers, HTC is going to have their hands full trying to nab customers away from those two manufacturers’ latest smartphones in the LG G6, and the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus. HTC will confirm everything on the HTC U 11 on May 16th, which isn’t too far away.
