The Xiaomi Mi 6 was announced last week, and the latest report confirms that the phone is utilizing its Snapdragon 835 SoC to the fullest, contrary to what Xiaomi’s listing says. Now, the Snapdragon 835 is one of the most powerful processors out there at the moment, and it is fueling the Xiaomi Mi 6. Some controversy emerged when the company announced the device, however, considering that their online listing of the device says that the Adreno 540 GPU runs at 653MHz, which is quite odd considering that the official Qualcomm listing for that GPU says that it runs at 710MHz.
So, it is not exactly surprising that users started to think that Xiaomi decided to underclock Qualcomm’s most powerful chip, but that doesn’t seem to be the case, after all. A random Weibo (Chinese social network) user decided to run some GFXBench tests and share the results with the public. The Xiaomi Mi 6 that was submitted to a GFXBench test was able to attain a GPU frequency of 710MHz, and it even went all the way up to 800MHz, which seemingly proves that Xiaomi did not underclock the Snapdragon 835. Now, as of writing this article, Xiaomi still didn’t change their official listing, and it still says that the Adreno 540 GPU runs at 653MHz. We’re expecting for the company to remedy that soon, or at least release an official statement that confirms that statement, as we’re getting some contradictory info here.
