Gray Moto Z2 Play And Style Covers Shown In Leaked Image

A gray variant of the Moto Z2 Play, along with five variously colored Style covers for the device, have been shown in a leaked image from industry insider Roland Quandt. The render shows only the back side of the upcoming smartphone and its cover accessories, although there has previously been a leaked image that showed both the front and back of a gold-colored Z2 Play. This latest render of the handset is a match for the previous image, giving this new leak a certain amount of credibility. Also, the handset was recently rumored to be coming in Fine Gold and Lunar Gray color options, which also fits with the images of the device that have been leaked so far.

The design of the Moto Z2 Play looks similar to that of the original Moto Z Play that was released in September last year. The power and volume controls look to be in the same position on the side of the phone, while the new image of the gray Z2 Play also shows that the rear-facing camera area looks the same, still with a slight bump. However, there is a very small difference seen in the Moto Mods attachment area, as on the Z Play, the connector pins area was joined with a small gold bar, while on the new image there is a small gap between the two. Meanwhile, the older leaked render showing the front of the device depicted another change, as the phone will apparently feature a larger fingerprint sensor rather than a small, squarer one.

As far as specifications go, nothing has been confirmed yet but a recent report gave some information on this front. The Moto Z2 Play is said to have the Snapdragon 626 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, all improvements over its predecessor. The device is said to feature a 5.5-inch display with FullHD resolution just like its predecessor, but the battery size is tipped to be reduced to 3,000mAh, down from 3,510mAh. The smaller battery size is thought to be because the Z2 Play is being made slimmer than the Z Play and is said to be 6mm thick, 1mm thinner than its predecessor. Other leaked specs included a 12-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front-facing shooter. While a release date for the device has not been confirmed, the handset will likely launch soon and possibly be unveiled at Lenovo’s Tech World next month.
