A device that’s said to be the upcoming HTC U 11 flagship was listed in the database of popular mobile benchmarking tool AnTuTu, labeled as the “HTC CBP.” The same codename already appeared several days ago when the device made an appearance on Geekbench, and the newly uncovered listing seemingly corroborates all of the previously rumored information about HTC’s next high-end Android handset.
According to AnTuTu’s results, the upcoming HTC U 11 will be powered by the Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC), the first 10nm piece of silicon ever produced by U.S. tech giant Qualcomm that also features the high-end Adreno 540 GPU. Additionally, the device will seemingly ship with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, though it remains to be seen if the Taiwanese consumer electronics manufacturer opts to offer more variants of the handset with more native storage space and possibly even more RAM. The AnTuTu listing also suggests that the HTC U 11 will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, presumably enhanced with HTC’s in-house user interface that significantly differs from the stock Android experience. Furthermore, the newly released information indicates that the display panel of the device will boast a conventional QHD resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels, indicating that HTC’s upcoming handset will sport a regular 16:9 aspect ratio. Finally, the listing also suggests that the device will sport a 16-megapixel camera and another 12-megapixel sensor, with the former likely being the primary, rear-mounted camera of the HTC U 11.
According to previous reports, the HTC U 11 will feature a 5.5-inch display panel and be powered by a non-removable 4,000mAh battery. The Taoyuan, Taiwan-based tech giant is currently in the process of teasing the smartphone online in the run-up to its official announcement that’s scheduled to take place on May 16. HTC is hoping that the HTC U 11 will help its mobile division bounce back from recent troubles that saw it struggle to make a significant impact in the smartphone market for a few years now. Time will tell whether the company manages to realize that ambition, but more details on the matter are bound to be available shortly, with the HTC U 11’s launch being only two weeks away.
