Moto has outed a grand total of 7 new devices, all running the entry-level MediaTek MT6737 processor alongside Android 7.0 or 7.1 (Nougat), by passing them through the Wi-Fi Alliance for interoperability certification. The devices in this series all bear similar model numbers, and seem to fall within the low-end Moto C and Moto E ranges. The model numbers in question are XT1770, XT1772, XT1773, XT1724, XT1725, XT1726 and XT1721, and they all list mostly similar Wi-Fi operation standards and specifications. All of the phones with 7 as the next to last digit of the model number are running Android 7.1.1 Nougat, while the devices with 2 as the next to last number in the model number string are running Android 7.0. This points to the 7 line being the Moto E and its variants while the 2 phones could be in the Moto C family, but this has not been confirmed across the board.
The XT1773 should be the standard Moto E, packing the aforementioned MediaTek processor beneath a 5-inch screen, along with a 5MP back camera and 2MP selfie snapper. The XT1770, meanwhile is said to be the Moto E4 Power, which differentiates itself from the pack with a massive 5,000mAh battery. The XT1772 caps off this range as the 5.5-inch Moto E4 Plus. Model number XT1750 seems to belong to the vanilla Moto C, so while the XT172x lineup could be another family entirely, rumors point to the XT1726 being the Moto C lineup’s Plus representative. The remaining mystery phones all bear similar model numbers to that one, which likely means that they’ll be in the Moto C family.
The Moto E4 and Moto C, as well as all of their different variants, have yet to make any official appearances courtesy of Moto, and have thus far been spotted only in official documents, leaks, and as the subjects of numerous rumors. Given previous talk of the Moto C family possibly making its way to certain markets in June and all of these different supposed Moto E and Moto C phones hitting the Wi-Fi Alliance at the same time, it’s not a stretch to think that they’ll be launching fairly soon, and all either at or close to the same time.
