Moto’s upcoming Moto Z2 Force and Moto Z2 Play have leaked in a brand new press render. The new leak shows the front and back of both devices that mostly look the same from the front, sporting a new rectangular fingerprint scanner alongside similar screen setups, and a front-facing LED flash. A microphone seems to be on the bottom left of both phones’ faces, near the aforementioned fingerprint scanner. Both phones appear to have a shell of sorts around the front. The differences become a bit more pronounced around the back, where the Moto Z2 Force sports a dual camera setup within its round lens, while the Moto Z2 Play has the same bump, but only one camera inside it. Beyond that, however, things mostly look the same; both phones have ditched the clean aesthetic found on last year’s Moto Z lineup in favor of a more premium, playful look, similar to the new Moto G lineup.
The latest leak corroborates previous reports about both phones, which show that the Moto Z2 Play has slimmed down quite a bit from its predecessor, while the Moto Z2 Force has adopted a 3.5mm headphone jack for this year’s model, meaning that the Moto Z2 Force will likely be the only one that’s sporting the thickness of a “normal” phone, while the Moto Z2 Play will give budget consumers a more convincing imitation of Moto’s flagship this time around.
To recap on rumored specs, the Moto Z2 Force, which will be mostly the same device that the Moto Z2 is on the inside, is set to sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor alongside 4GB of RAM. The Moto Z2 Play, meanwhile, will have a conservative Snapdragon 626 under the hood, also paired with 4GB of RAM. Essentially, the Moto Z2 Play will likely entice current Moto Z Play owners if they want something a bit thinner and more powerful, but at the expense of battery life. The Moto Z2 Force, on the other hand, will be a completely different story from last year’s model, in most of the same ways that the regular Moto Z2 will be, though there has thus far been no confirmation on whether the thinner flagship will sport a headphone jack like its thicker counterpart.
