Three new variants of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) lineup have been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA) earlier this week, as evidenced by a set of testing results published by the standards agency on Friday. All of the newly uncovered Galaxy J3 (2017) models are part of the SM-J330 series, bearing the model numbers SM-J330F, SM-J330G, and the SM-J330G/DS. The latter variant is almost certainly a dual-SIM model of the Galaxy J3 (2017), though it’s currently unclear how the other two differ from each other.
The WFA’s listings don’t reveal many details regarding the handsets, save for the fact that all of them were apparently running Android 7.0 Nougat at the time of their testing, indicating that they will likely feature this particular build of Google’s open source operating system once they hit the market, presumably alongside Samsung’s proprietary software suite. While the latest report on the upcoming Galaxy J3 (2017) family doesn’t reveal much about the handsets, several industry sources and benchmark listings have previously disclosed a wide variety of information on Samsung’s new entry-level devices. The Galaxy J3 (2017) is said to ship with a 5-inch display panel with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and be powered by the Exynos 7570, Samsung’s proprietary system-on-chip (SoC) featuring four ARM Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz and the ARM Mali T720 GPU. The device is also expected to boast 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage space that will likely be expandable by at least 128GB via a microSD card slot.
Previous reports have indicated that the Galaxy J3 (2017) will sport a 13-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel front sensor, both of which will be able to record 1080p video. While the South Korean consumer electronics manufacturer has yet to officially announce a new revision of its entry-level Galaxy J series, the Galaxy J3 (2017) will likely hit the market in the near future seeing how the handset already received all of the necessary certificates from competent authorities, at least in the United States. The upcoming smartphone is also expected to be released in a number of other markets around the world, and an update on its availability should follow in the coming weeks.
