Prominent tipster Evan Blass has taken to Twitter with claims that Lenovo has yet another Moto device in the works, namely the Moto Z2. That would bring the total of Moto-branded devices up to 10 for this year, including devices from the company’s Moto Z, Moto X, Moto G, Moto E, and Moto C lines, such as the Moto C and Moto C Plus, and the recently leaked Moto Z2 Play. The tweet was accompanied by an image previously posted by Blass from the manufacturer, which showed off some of the other phones in Moto’s lineup. Although no image was attached portraying the rumored Moto Z2 itself, leaks from as recent as yesterday also point to the possibility of a new device in the works under that name.
That the device is expected to be placed in the “Z” series of devices would seem to indicate that the alleged device will be a high-end, premium handset. The designation would put it up next to the Moto Z Play and Moto Z Force. It would also seem to point to something that will support Moto Mods add-ons. However, at this point in time, there isn’t much information to be had about the prospective flagship beyond the model name suggested by the leaks and speculation to be had thanks to those unofficially revealed images from a few days ago. The images did provide a few details, if they were real, about the external hardware features, at least as far as sensors and their placement can be speculated from an image.
Other devices currently under the Moto banner and portrayed in the image accompanying Blass’ tweet include the Moto X 2017, Moto GS, Moto GS+, Moto E4, Moto E4 Plus, Moto C, and finally the Moto C plus. Ten devices may seem like a lot but it’s worth bearing in mind that Moto has always been a brand set on filling niches. There really does seem to be a smartphone there that could suit just about anybody, even if it is hard to see where a Moto Z2 could fit into the equation without more information from the company behind the devices.
