Nival Interactive’s virtual reality (VR) unit Luden.io recently released VRobot, their latest VR game for the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift headset. The game was designed as a havoc-wreaking simulator that lets players control a giant robot and tasks them with taking down entire cities using a wide variety of tools and techniques. Apart from destroying architecture, VRobot will also pit you against other massive robots, Luden.io says.
The game itself takes place in some unspecified future in which self-driving cars and robots have taken over the world and humans have been forced to retreat from large cities as their AI-powered creations are plaguing the entire planet. As part of its efforts to retake the Earth, the mankind decides to build a manually controlled Giant Robot and tasks its operator — the player — with a mission to reclaim former human cities. As expected, that quest turns out to be everything but peaceful, as evidenced by the VRobot gameplay trailer that can be seen below. Overall, if destroying massive virtual cities sounds like your idea of a good time, VRobot seems like a game that’s worth giving a go.
VRobot launched on Steam in late April and is currently available for purchase for $14.99. The game features no additional paid content and is compatible with both the Oculus Rift and the HTC Vive, though it’s currently still an Early Access title that may be prone to crashing and feature a number of bugs and other technical issues, Luden.io says. It’s currently unclear when exactly will the game be officially released as a stable piece of software, though more details on the matter are expected to follow shortly seeing how its developers previously implied that VRobot will be completed by the end of the year. As always, it’s possible that the price of the finished game will actually be higher than the one of its Early Access version, so those who are looking to play it at any point in the future may want to purchase it sooner rather than later.
