Honor has just confirmed that the Honor 9 is coming on June 12. Honor confirmed the news via their official Weibo (Chinese social network) page, and this launch event will occur in China. Does this mean that Honor might host a press conference in Europe or the US on the same day? Well, we’ll just have to find out. Now, if you take a look at the provided image that Honor posted, you will see a huge number ‘9’ in it, along with the phone’s release date down below. Now, next to the number itself, Honor is teasing a dual camera setup on this smartphone, which is quite obvious at this point.
The Honor 9 will be made out of metal and glass, just like its predecessor, and will also sport a dual camera setup on the back, which is also something the Honor 8 shipped with. Unlike the Honor 8, however, the Honor 9 will ship with a front-facing fingerprint scanner. The Honor 9 already got certified by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), so we have plenty of info when it comes to this phone, not to mention that the device already leaked in a number of color options. That being said, the phone’s volume up, volume down and power / lock keys will be placed on the right side of its body, and the back side of this device will be curved. The Honor 9 will sport a 5.15-inch fullHD (1920 x 1080) display, according to TENAA, and the phone will ship with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 960 64-bit octa-core processor will fuel this smartphone, and a 3,100mAh battery will also be a part of this package. The device will sport 20-megapixel and 12-megapixel cameras on the back, while a single 8-megapixel shooter will be included on its front side.
Android 7.0 Nougat will come pre-installed on this phone, along with Huawei’s Emotion UI (EMUI) 5.0 skin, at least according to TENAA, it’s always possible Honor will opt for Android 7.1 Nougat instead, which comes with EMUI 5.1. The Honor 9 will ship in a number of color variants, including Gold, Blue, Black, White, Yellow, Silver and Purple.
