Another supposed sketch of the OnePlus 5 surfaced online on Sunday, giving more credence to recent reports that the upcoming Android flagship will sport a dual camera setup consisting of two horizontally arranged sensors in the top-left corner of its rear panel. The sketch also indicates that the dual LED, dual tone flash unit of the upcoming device will be placed immediately to the right of its main camera setup, while the phone itself will boast the same physical buttons that its predecessor did. Furthermore, latest reports indicate that the OnePlus 5 will not be launching on June 15 like it was previously thought, though the Chinese original equipment manufacturer (OEM) still intends to launch the handset at some point this month, sources said on Sunday. It’s currently unclear whether the Shenzhen, Guangdong-based phone maker will officially unveil the OnePlus 5 before or after the aforementioned date, but more details on the matter are bound to follow shortly.
The OnePlus 5 has already been the subject of numerous leaks and rumors in recent months, and while not all industry insiders agree on every single specification of the upcoming smartphone, the majority of related reports outline the same basic specs. It’s expected that the handset will launch with a 5.5-inch display panel with a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels protected by 2.5D glass and ship in two variants, boasting 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage space and 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal flash memory, respectively. While neither model is thought to sport a microSD card slot, both should be powered by the Snapdragon 835, Qualcomm’s latest flagship system-on-chip (SoC) that OnePlus said will be utilized in its next high-end device. The OnePlus 5 is also expected to be resistant to dust and water, in accordance with the IP68 rating. Finally, representatives of the Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer previously claimed that the handset will be thinner and possibly even smaller than the OnePlus 3T.
According to recent reports, the OnePlus 5 might be somewhat more expensive than its predecessor that shipped with a $349 price tag in the United States. An update on its availability and pricing is expected to follow soon.
