OnePlus’ CEO, Liu Zuohu aka Pete Lau, has just confirmed that the OnePlus 5 will sport a fullHD (1920 x 1080) display. The company’s CEO shared a screenshot of HydrogenOS which is running on top of OnePlus 5. For those of you who do not know this, HydrogenOS is also OnePlus’ operating system, and it comes pre-installed on top of Android on OnePlus’ smartphones that are sold in China. So, you can think of it as an equivalent to OxygenOS, limited to China.
That being said, this image was not compressed by Weibo (Chinese social network), accessing the full-size image is possible, and the image itself comes in a fullHD (1920 x 1080) resolution, which more or less confirms that the OnePlus 5 will ship with a fullHD display, just like its predecessor(s). You can take a look at the screenshot itself by checking out the gallery down below, the first image in the gallery is the screenshot of HydrogenOS’ home screen which runs on the OnePlus 5, and the second one shows off some EXIF info taken from that image, which confirms its resolution. This is not the first official confirmation that we’ve received from the company, however, OnePlus confirmed a while back that the OnePlus 5 will be fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, and that it will ship with a front-facing fingerprint scanner. The company also said that a 3.5mm headphone jack will be placed on the top of the device, well, one of their teasers did, and it’s also worth noting that the company partnered up with DxO in order to improve quality of the OnePlus 5’s main camera(s).
The OnePlus 5 will launch on June 15 or June 20, depending on which leak you’d like to believe. We’ve seen several leaks which claimed that the phone will be announced on June 15, but a new image surfaced earlier today, hinting at June 20 release date. The OnePlus 5 will probably sport a 5.5-inch fullHD AMOLED display, along with 6GB / 8GB of RAM and several different storage models will be available. OnePlus’ Dash Charge quick charging will be included in the package, and the phone will almost certainly sport a dual camera setup on the back. Android 7.1.1 Nougat will come pre-installed on the OnePlus 5, and on top of it, you’ll get the company’s OxygenOS skin, or HydrogenOS in a Chinese model of the device.
