The Galaxy S8 has been available out in the market for some time now, and believe it or not, the company has just announced the Galaxy S8 Pirates of the Caribbean Special Edition variant of its new flagship. This handset has been announced in China, and it is already available via JingDong Mall (JD.com), which is one of the largest retailers in China. The device is priced at 5,988 Yuan ($880), and it comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, just like the regular Galaxy S8 unit.
As you might have guessed already, this handset comes preloaded with the Pirates of the Caribbean content, such as themes and wallpapers. Now, to be more specific, you will get general Pirates of the Caribbean franchise themes and wallpapers, but also some content from the latest movie in the franchise, the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which is playing in theatres as we speak. In addition to that, you will get a really cool packaging for this smartphone, instead of a regular retail packaging, the phone is packed into a treasure chest, which has the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales theme on it. Interestingly enough, though, the device itself does not have any Pirates of the Caribbean images, text or anything of the sort on it, it looks just like the regular Galaxy S8 model on the outside, and this is the Midnight Black model we’re talking about here, that is the only color option for this special edition handset.
Now, as far as the phone’s specs are concerned, you’re getting the same package as you would get with the standard Galaxy S8 handset. The device comes with a 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of native storage. Samsung’s Exynos 8895 64-bit octa-core SoC fuels the phone, and a 12-megapixel Dual Pixel camera is placed on the back of the device. A fingerprint scanner is also located on the back side of this phone, and the device is made out of metal and glass. A 3,000mAh battery is also included in this package, and the phone also sports an iris scanner.
