Rumor: Moto X4 To Launch On June 30 With Dual Camera Setup

The upcoming Moto X4 will launch on June 30 and boast a dual camera setup, IP68 certification, and a body that’s at least partially made of glass, industry insider Andri Yatim said earlier this week. The same source reiterated a number of previous rumors that claim the Moto X4 will be powered by the Snapdragon 660, Qualcomm’s latest mid-range system-on-chip (SoC) that was announced earlier this year. According to the product documentation of this particular piece of silicon, the Moto X4 will support Quick Charge 3.0 via a USB Type-C port, while the device itself will be powered by a 3,800mAh battery that likely won’t be removable.

Yatim recently stated that the Moto X4 will launch with a price tag of 20,999 rupees in India, which translates to approximately $325. Even provided that this information is accurate, the device may be somewhat more expensive in many other markets as Motorola Mobility likely opted to price its Indian variant in an aggressive manner due to the extremely competitive market in the South Asian country. The possibility of the Moto X4 sporting a body that’s partially made of glass indicates that the handset will support at least some contemporary wireless charging standards, though no firm details on this front have been revealed so far. According to previous rumors, the Lenovo-owned company is planning to ship a smartphone with 4GB of RAM and 32GB / 64GB of internal flash memory expandable by up to 256GB via a microSD card slot. The latter will likely double as a SIM card tray in a Hybrid SIM configuration, at least as far as the Indian model of the Moto X4 is concerned.

It’s currently unclear whether the supposed June 30 release date pertains to India or another market, but more details on the device may follow soon. For the time being, Yatim reiterated that the Android mid-ranger will feature a 5.2-inch display panel with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels and ship with a dual camera setup comprising two 13-megapixel sensors with apertures of f/1.7 and f/2.2, respectively. The selfie camera of the phone is also said to be accompanied by an LED flash unit, while the device itself will support NFC and TouchID, the insider said. Apart from the Moto X4, Indian consumers will soon be able to purchase the recently announced Moto Z2 Play.
