Android 8.0 Oreo-based firmware for the Huawei Mate 9 surfaced quite recently, and now something very similar popped up, though with far more info compared to the previous leak. Android 8.0 Oreo-based firmware for the Mate 9 appeared yet again, though this time around guys from XDA Developers managed to get their hands on it, and they provided all of us with some new info as to what can we expect this new version of Emotion UI (EMUI) to bring, in this case EMUI 6.0.
The Huawei Mate 10 is right around the corner, it will be announced on October 16, but the Mate 9 is still quite a powerful smartphone, and it will receive Android 8.0 Oreo in the near future, if this firmware is any indication. Now, as per the information provided by the source, Picture-in-Picture mode will be included in EMUI 6, same can be said for Oreo’s strict background app limitations, notification channels and even the ‘app is running in the background’ notification which has been pestering Oreo users since it launched. All in all, it seems like Huawei is planning to pack in more or less all Oreo features in EMUI 6. Now, in addition to that, XDA also shared some info regarding updates to EMUI, as EMUI 6 will look quite similar to EMUI 5, but some changes are coming. Once you install EMUI 6, you’ll get the ‘screen resolution’ option in display settings, which will let you switch between two resolutions (720p and 1080p) in order to conserve power. In addition to that, EMUI 6 will give you the option of including a new button which you can place on the navigation bar, and that button will add a small arrow to the left side of the navigation bar. So, what does it do? Well, it lets you temporarily hide the navigation bar, and in order to bring it back, you’ll need to swipe from the bottom.
‘Navigation Dock’ is also a part of this update, it seems, and that option basically adds a movable floating button to your display, which can replace the navigation bar completely.
