A newly uncovered listing from supply chain service provider Synnex hints at the existence of a device called Google Clips and reveals some new specifications of the upcoming Pixelbook that Alphabet’s subsidiary is expected to announce tomorrow. The Google Clips was listed by Synnex as one of the company’s computer accessories that still isn’t available for purchase, with its name suggesting that the device will likely be able to clip onto a piece of clothing or another object.
The Chrome OS-powered Pixelbook will supposedly be available in three variants, all of which will be powered by Intel’s i5-series processor, the same listing suggests. It’s understood that the CPU in question will be of the Kaby Lake variety but the source doesn’t outright confirm that assumption. The Pixelbook models will apparently only differ in terms of storage options, with Google supposedly planning to offer variants with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB of internal memory, though the latter one may have been erroneously entered into the Synnex’s database as another 256GB unit bearing the model number GA00124-US. All models are listed as coming with 12.3-inch screens, though their resolution remains unclear. The same listing also confirms the existence of the Google Home Mini which is set to be available in Chalk ( GA00210-US) and Charcoal (GA00216-US) color options, with the device reportedly being priced at $49 and scheduled for a release on October 19th.
Synnex also documents the existence of three upcoming variants of the new Daydream View headset which will supposedly only be different in terms of colors, being available in Red, Blue, and Grey. All of the aforementioned devices save for the Google Clips were previously rumored as being set for an official unveiling on October 4th, though the same could also hold true for the newly uncovered product. Due to its categorization, it’s possible that the Google Clips is meant to be a Chromebook accessory that the tech giant is planning to release alongside the new Pixelbook which is said to start at $1,199 in the United States and be one of the most premium offerings in this market segment. The Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL weren’t mentioned by Synnex, though both smartphones are expected to be the stars of tomorrow’s event.
