The Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones are finally official, after weeks of rumors and leaks. The two new devices are going to be available here in the US fairly shortly, with pre-orders beginning today. The Pixel 2 will be priced at $650 full retail for the 64GB model, and the 128GB model will be priced at $750. Meanwhile the Pixel 2 XL will have an even higher price tag with the 64GB model coming in at $850 and the 128GB model at $950.
Now Google will be selling the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL on the Google Store and it’ll be available as an unlocked model that works on all four US carriers (AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon) like it has done in the past. Google has also made the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL compatible with Project Fi, which is part of the reason for both devices working with all four US carriers (since Project Fi does seamlessly switch between US Cellular, Sprint and T-Mobile, which are CDMA and GSM networks, respectively). Google is offering financing on the two devices, which will involve payments being spread out over the course of 24 months.
Similar to the original Pixel and Pixel XL, these smartphones are largely the same, with the only real differences being in the screen size and battery capacity. Inside, both are rocking the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 chipset, along with 4GB of RAM and either 64GB or 128GB of storage. Like past Pixel and Nexus devices, neither of these have micro SD card slots. So the storage you purchase is all you’ll get, so keep that in mind when making your purchase. The Pixel 2 will have a 5-inch Full HD display, with Gorilla Glass 5 on top, with a 2700mAh battery, while the Pixel 2 XL sports a larger 5.5-inch curved Quad HD panel that also has Gorilla Glass 5 and a larger 3520mAh battery inside.
