Leak: BlackBerry Motion Doesn't Have a Physical Keyboard

BlackBerry or perhaps more likely, TCL, isn’t quite done with smartphone launches for 2017 just yet, it appears. According to Evleaks, there is a new BlackBerry smartphone on the horizon, which is the BlackBerry Motion. And it appears to be an all touchscreen device with a fingerprint sensor on the front (as well as what appears to be a physical home button). The device looks to be a successor to the DTEK60, which was a sort of flagship for BlackBerry last year, but not quite. Of course, BlackBerry hasn’t really released a flagship with high-end specs in quite some time. After all, the KEYone was more of a mid-ranger with the specs it had under-the-hood.

Looking at the image above, there appears to be a headphone jack at the bottom of the device. Which is likely a sigh of relief for many people. Additionally, there appears to be a USB-C port and a speaker on the right side. Now we are unable to see the left side and the top of the Motion, but the right side does have three buttons. The longer one is obviously the volume rocker, with the power button below that. And the bottom button that is in a darker shade, is likely the convenience key, for jumping into different apps pretty quickly. The top and bottom bezels don’t appear to be the same size, with the bottom one looking like it’s a bit bigger. This is likely to house that home button, and there could also be capacitive buttons on either side of it – unless BlackBerry is relying on gestures on the home button for back and recents functionality

Right now, there’s very little information available about the BlackBerry Motion, but it was the Krypton, at least that was its codename before. And since it does have a name that will likely make it to market, that means that the device is close to being announced, officially. And with the DTEK60 being announced last October, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see it debut at some point this month. Hopefully TCL and BlackBerry Mobile will make it official fairly soon.
