Report: Huawei Sold 112M Handsets From January To September

Two days ago, Huawei’s CEO, Richard Yu said that the company shipped over 100 million smartphones in the first three quarters of this year, and now a new report surfaced, sharing a more accurate number. If this new report is to be believed, Huawei had managed to ship 112 million smartphones from the beginning of this year, up until the end of September. That being said, it’s worth noting that the company managed to ship 140 million handsets last year, and it seems like Huawei will easily beat that record this time around, as the holiday season is coming, and the company’s sales are usually really good in the fourth quarter of the year.

Now, Huawei did forecast, earlier this year, that it will sell somewhere between 140 and 150 million smartphones by the end of 2017, and that might as well happen, though it’s also possible that the company might cross that magic 150 million sales number. This is particularly impressive if we consider the fact that the company shifted its focus to making more profit, rather than shipping higher volumes of products. In case you’re wondering how many devices Huawei shipped in the first half of this year, you should know that it managed to sell 73 million handsets, so the company actually sold 39 million smartphones in the third quarter of the year, which is quite a success for it. Now, Huawei’s sales in the last quarter of the year will certainly be boosted by the company’s all-new Mate 10 handsets, Huawei announced three new Mate 10 flagships recently, and the Huawei Mate 10 Lite mid-range was also announced.

According to some reports, Huawei already trumped Apple earlier this year in terms of market share, and it managed to become the world’s second-largest smartphone manufacturer. Other sources claim that Huawei is awfully close, but that it still did not manage to remove the Cupertino giant from the second place. In any case, it will be interesting to see these two tech giants go head-to-head in the last quarter of this year, as both companies have plenty of firepower in their arsenal. Huawei has a couple of all-new Mate 10 handsets, while Apple started selling its iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones, while the iPhone X pre-orders are also live already, in some regions.
