Chinese smartphone manufacturer OPPO has unveiled two new smartphones, the OPPO A75 and OPPO A75s. Both feature a face recognition technology that can be used to unlock them and ship with 18:9 screens surrounded by slim bezels. The manufacturer claims its face recognition feature uses 254 feature points in order to identify any highlights of a user’s face. However, people also have the option of unlocking either device using a fingerprint scanner located on their back plates. Another feature incorporated into the ColorOS 3.2, the manufacturer’s proprietary skin, is OPPO Share, which transfers files and images between two smartphones from OPPO without relying on a mobile data network. Since ColorOS 3.2 is based on Android 7.1 Nougat, owners of the device may also view two applications at the same time using the split-screen multitasking mode.
On the front of the smartphones, users will find a 6-inch LCD panel with a resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. A sheet of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the screen from scratches. A single front-facing camera of the handsets is equipped with a 20-megapixel sensor and a lens with an f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera, on the other hand, contains a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.8 lens and autofocus capabilities. The camera software includes features like portrait mode shooting and background blur. The smartphones can accept two SIM cards and one microSD card simultaneously. The handsets are powered by the Helio P23 chipset from MediaTek, which is comprised of an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.5GHz and the Mali-G71 MP2 GPU. The modem incorporated into the SoC allows the OPPO A75 to connect to 4G LTE networks, and it also supports the Voice-over-LTE cellular standard, a technology that allows users to make phone calls through 4G LTE networks. To keep the lights on, the handset contains a 3,200mAh non-removable battery.
There are only two differences between the smartphones, the internal flash storage capacity and the amount of RAM on offer. The OPPO A75 contains 3GB of RAM and 32GB of native memory while the OPPO A75s includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of flash storage. The internal memory of both handsets can be expanded using microSD cards with capacities of up to 256GB. The two devices can now be purchased from the manufacturer’s official website in Taiwan. The OPPO A75 is priced at TWD 10,990, which translates to roughly $365, while the OPPO A75s costs TWD 11,990, or just under $400.
