Acer Unveils New Android App-Ready Chromebook 11 – CES 2018

Acer’s Chromebook 11 line has proved to be a popular Chromebook range due its combination of a smaller form factor and powerful performance. This week at CES 2018 Acer will be showcasing the latest edition to its Chromebook 11 series, the new Acer Chromebook 11.

Following in the tradition of the previous Chromebook 11 options, the new Chromebook 11 looks to be a highly portable product. This is not only evident in its smaller size with its 11.6-inch display (along with a 1366 x 768 resolution) but also with its lightweight design, as the new Chromebook 11 weighs in at just 2.43 pounds and measures only 0.71-inches in thickness. In addition, the new Chromebook 11 looks to offer a competitive audio and social experience due to its inclusion of dual stereo speakers as well as a high-dynamic range (HDR) camera. Additional hardware aspects worth noting include a microSD card slot and no less than four USB ports. Two of which consist of the newer USB Type- C (3.1) standard while the other two are USB Type-A (3.0) ports. As is typically the case with Chromebooks, the battery capacity has not been announced although Acer suggests the new Chromebook 11 will be capable of operating for up to 10 hours off the back of a full charge, while connectivity comes in the form of support for 2×2 MIMO 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 Padding out its feature list is the inclusion of support for the Google Play Store and Android apps. Making this an Android app-ready Chromebook from launch.

The new Chromebook 11 will be available in two different variants with the main difference being the addition of a touch display on the CB311-8HT model, compared to the non-touch version which comes with the CB311-8H model number. Within each model, the Chromebook 11 will also be available in different storage variants (16GB and 32GB) with both versions equipped with 4GB RAM. In terms of availability, the new Chromebook 11 is due to firstly become available in EMEA, starting from March, and priced as low as €249. Following which, the Chromebook 11 will become available to buy in North America in April, for $249. With the price in both regions rising according depending on whether opting for the touch display model and the level of storage. Acer has yet to confirm whether all options and variants will be available in all regions.
