AEE Aviation Technology on Monday announced the AEE Mokacam, a 4K action camera advertised as the world’s smallest gadget of its kind. The latest addition to the company’s imaging portfolio is equipped with a 16-megapixel Sony-made sensor that can record 4K clips at 30 frames per second while offering manual shutter control, motion detection support, and contemporary software stabilization. While primarily meant to deliver high-quality action videos, the AEE Mokacam can also serve as a versatile tool for capturing images in a wide variety of scenarios, the firm claims. An integrated microphone is also part of the package, being said to allow for high-resolution audio that can add an extra level of quality to your videos.
The AEE Mokacam is powered by a system-on-chip from Ambarella, the same company whose technology powers many other premium action cameras, including a number of GoPro-made ones. Despite its robust capabilities, the camera is advertised as being extremely simple to operate as it features only two physical buttons and users should get used to it in little to no time. The consumer electronics manufacturer is advertising the Mokacam as a two-in-one product, referring to its video and image-taking abilities. If needed, the gadget can operate as a traditional point-and-shoot camera that’s entirely automated but still supports customizable shutter controls, allowing you to manually set its performance depending on the type of photography you’re going for. While it’s advertised as the smallest action camera in the world, the Mokacam’s dimensions are yet to be specified by its creators.
AEE claims the Mokacam was designed for a broad range of action use cases, being both portable and intuitive, thus fulfilling the two biggest requirements for high-quality action cameras. It’s equipped with a magnetic battery that doesn’t just power it but can also be used for attaching it to metallic surfaces, allowing you to secure it on any object ranging from bicycle handlebars to street signs. While the device itself isn’t waterproof, it comes with a case that can be submerged up to 120 feet (36 meters). AEE is showcasing the Mokacam at this year’s CES in Las Vegas and has promised to start shipping it by the end of the month. The camera will be available for purchase directly from the manufacturer and will also be retailed on Amazon with a suggested price of $279 in the United States.
