Android 8.0-Based OxygenOS Open Beta 1 Hits The OnePlus 5T

OnePlus 5T is now receiving a first Android 8.0 Oreo-based beta build of OxygenOS, namely Open Beta 1. OnePlus has announced this via its official forums, and it’s the first taste of Android 8.0 Oreo that the OnePlus 5T users are able to get. This build brings a number of Android 8.0 Oreo features to the device, as expected, and for those of you who own the OnePlus 5 and have updated to the final build of Android 8.0 Oreo, you know what to expect here, pretty much, though do keep in mind that this is the first beta build of Android 8.0 Oreo, so you can expect to see some bugs while using the phone.

As part of this update, OnePlus not only added a number of stock Android 8.0 Oreo features that Google introduced, but the company also updated its OxygenOS skin with new features, as expected. As part of this update, you will be receiving the Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, while the new Auto-Fill features have also been added. Along with the update, you’ll be getting the new Smart Text Selection feature that Google introduced, and the same goes for the New Quick Settings design. The latest security patch is also coming with this build, the one for December 2017, and the company has updated its launcher as well. OnePlus optimized the app shortcut style in OxygenOS’ launcher, while you’re also able to upload photos to Shot on OnePlus now. These are only some changes that the company introduced in its build, and the final build will resemble this one, for sure, though you can expect to see some changes.

If you’re already a part of the company’s Open Beta program, you will get this update OTA, if not, you will need to join and flash this update on your phone manually, which is not recommended if you do not know exactly what you’re doing, though OnePlus is offering detailed instructions on how to do that exactly, all the info is available from the source link down below, where you will also be able to find a link to download this software package, just in case you’re interested
