LG’s latest budget-friendly smartphone, the Aristo 2, is now available for purchase in the United States through MetroPCS. A direct sequel to last year’s model, the new LG Aristo 2 carries a 5-inch display and is powered by Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box, and unlike the large majority of smartphones today, it comes with a user-removable battery. Though the smartphone has an original launch price of $139, MetroPCS customers can currently pick it up at a discounted price of $59.
The LG Aristo 2 prides itself with a 13-megapixel camera coupled with an LED flash, boasting software features such as Auto Shot and Gesture Shot, as well as phase detection autofocus and HDR capabilities. Meanwhile, the front-facing sensor clocks in at a resolution of 5 megapixels and although it lacks an LED flash of its own, it can rely on the screen to illuminate selfie shots. The display of the handset has a resolution of 1,280 x 720, retaining a more conventional 16:9 aspect ratio. The device is driven by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 chipset featuring four CPU cores clocked at up to 1.4GHz, and the processor is paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of on-board storage out of which around 9GB are available to the user. The memory can be expanded by up to 32GB through a microSD slot, and finally, the 2,410mAh user-removable battery is rated for up to 17 hours of talk time and up to 14 days of standby time. As expected from an entry-level device with a removable battery, the LG Aristo 2 doesn’t have a unibody design and lacks any kind of waterproofing, but still manages to carry a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Normally, the LG Aristo 2 would cost $139 but MetroPCS has an instant discount of $30 attached to the offer, as well as a $50 mail-in rebate, which brings the final price down to $59.
