You can now sync Philips hue lights to Razer’s Chroma gear for a completely immersive gaming experience that one could only expect to manifest thanks to Razer. While the brand has been prolific in the gaming peripheral market for a while, it has only recently started to make its way into the mobile device market, most recently with the launch of the Razer phone in late 2017, and now with the compatibility between a popular home automation brand and its own Chroma lighting system.
Much of Razer’s gear now includes Chroma lighting, meaning specific Chroma profiles can be created to react to certain things happening in PC games, and now it’s posible to have Philips hue color bulbs react along with the Chroma lighting so things look and feel more immersive in a way you’ve never before experienced. According to Razer you’ll need the new Synapse 3 software, so if you already have Synpase installed all you should have to do is update it, and if you don’t then you’ll need to download Synapse from Razer’s website, though if you already have Razer gear that has integrated Chroma lighting then you probably already have the software on your PC.
Razer is giving users some choice in how the hue lights react with games. For instance, hue lights can be set to a specific color per individual bulb, meaning you could have some be red, and some blue, and some purple. The other option is to use a simple one-touch configuration that syncs every bulb to the Chroma gear you have so that all the lights work together with the Chroma lighting to match throughout the whole experience. Some of this you can view in action in the video below. In addition to needing the Synapse software you’ll also need the most up to date Hue app and the Hue V2 bridge. Razer says that a range of popular games will automatically work with this integration, and perhaps unsurprisingly Blizzard’s popular team-based shooter Overwatch is included in the list of games which should work right away provided you have all the necessary equipment and software both on the PC and on your phone.
