Cleer, Inc. has announced a new set of wireless headphones which it calls ALLY, and just in time for them to be demoed at CES 2018. The headphones in question are not, however, standard run-of-the-mill listening devices. Instead they are built to satisfy audiophiles and music-lovers across the board, as ALLY was developed around Qualcomm’s CSR8670 SoC, complete with the chipmaker’s TrueWireless stereo and active noise reduction features. They also include Sensory’s TrulyHandsfree Voice Control, allowing wearers the use of the headphones in a true hand-free manner, and are rated as IPX5 water-resistant – for those who need a pair of headphones that are more suitable for use in different situations and environments. If all that added functionality weren’t quite enough, Cleer has confirmed its ALLY wireless headphones also include Amazon’s Alexa Voice Service (AVS).
One of the areas where some may find issue with the headphones is the battery life. As the ALLY headphones are only rated to offer up to four hours of use at a given time. Although, as these are ‘true’ wireless headphones (where there is no cable connecting the ear buds to each other or to the Bluetooth connected device), this is an issue which will be encountered with similar products. On that basis, the level of battery life suggested is in line with what you can expect from other true wireless headphones. Irrespective, the carry case included in the package also doubles as a charger and is listed as capable of holding an additional 10-hours worth of power when fully charged. As a result, with the case and buds fully charged, users can expect anywhere up to 14 hours of total usage before both the case and the earbuds run out of power.
As to when ALLY will become available to buy, this is still an unknown although the company has stated that its current plan is to begin shipping units out to buyers by the second half of this year. At present, Cleer has yet to provide detailed information on where its ALLY headphones will be available to buy, although the company has confirmed that they will arrive with a $129.99 price tag attached in the US. Which when considering the number of features included with these headphones, will make them a competitive option for those looking for a feature-rich and true wire-free listening experience.
