EZVIZ's New Smart Peephole Can Identify Who Is At The Door – CES 2018

EZVIZ is in attendance at this year’s CES show and is showcasing an advanced security solution for the home. Its product, the Lookout Smart Door Viewer, is made up of two parts which work in conjunction to offer consumers a smarter way to engage with visitors to their door. The first part of the puzzle is what is essentially a smart peephole. One which is largely defined by its included HD camera that is capable of recording everything that happens outside of the door. Which is where the second part comes in. As the package also includes a color 4.3-inch touch screen display, allowing those in the home to see who is at the door without going to the door. Furthermore, the display itself boasts a 4,600 mAh battery, and is therefore a portable display – it does not require positioning in any specific place.

This is only the beginning though as the system is also compatible with the company’s app. Which means, in addition to the transmission of images to the touchscreen display, the same live feed can be accessed via the app, and from anywhere. What’s more, the camera is also equipped with infrared ensuring images and video captured at night are just as clear as those taken during the day. While two-way audio has also been included for good measure.

If all that is not enough, and where the real smarts comes in, the system is also capable of learning who people are over time. This is achieved through the homeowner using the app to “create a gallery of trusted visitors.” The app then makes use of facial recognition technology to identify who is at the door. For those looking for even more functionality and greater smart home compatibility, the Lookout Smart Door Viewer is also said to be compatible with Amazon Alexa, as well as the company’s own range of smart EZVIZ products. Speaking of which, along with the Lookout Smart Door Viewer, EZVIZ also announced a new all-in-one home security system which can be used inside or out, called the ezGuard (shown below). The ezGuard will be priced at $109.99 while the Lookout Smart Door Viewer is due to arrive with a $229.99 price tag attached. Both are expected to become available to buy during the first quarter of this year.
