Huawei Mate 10 Pro Coming To US Unlocked In February

Huawei has announced that the Mate 10 Pro will be coming to the US next month. The Chinese company has made no secret of its plans to become the number one smartphone manufacturer worldwide, but in order to achieve this, Huawei needs to crack the US smartphone market. Now, taking their first steps towards this, the company has announced that it will be releasing its flagship Huawei Mate 10 Pro in the US in February.

Until recently, Huawei was expected to sell the Mate 10 Pro through AT&T in the US, with Verizon possibly selling the flagship at a later date. Unfortunately for the company, though, the deal with the US carrier fell through at the very last moment due to rumored security concerns raised by the US government, a decision that has proved to be a major set back for the company. But despite this, the Chinese company has continued ahead with its efforts to crack the market, confirming that its flagship smartphone will go up for pre-orders as an unlocked device in the country beginning February 4, while shipments will commence two weeks later on February 18. For those who don’t know, the Huawei Mate 10 Pro features a 6-inch OLED with an 18:9 ratio and a resolution of 1080 x 2160p. On the inside, the Chinese company has equipped the device with the Kirin 970, which itself features a dedicated neural processing unit for more efficient AI. Coupled with the processor is a considerable 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Moving into the camera department, Huawei’s devices features dual-Leica branded sensors, the main one being of a 12-megapixel resolution, while the secondary monochrome sensor is a 20-megapixel affair. Lastly, on the software side of things, the Mate 10 Pro ships with Android 8.0 Oreo straight out of the box along with Huawei’s EMUI 8.0 overlay on top.

Although the device lacks carrier support, it will still be available at a number of big retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Microsoft, Newegg, and B&H. To further boost sales, Huawei has even partnered up with Wonder Woman actress Gal Gadot, who will now become the company’s official Chief Experience Officer and will actively provide ideas to the company regarding how to bring the company’s experiences to consumers. For now, though, consumers interested in the device will have to shell out $799 and will be able to choose between the Midnight Blue, Titanium Grey, and Mocha Brown colors.
