Meizu M6S Leaks With A Side-Facing Fingerprint Scanner

The Meizu M6S will be announced tomorrow, and a new leak has surfaced, claiming that the phone will sport a side-facing fingerprint scanner after all. If you take a look at the provided image, you will see some sort of a promotional pamphlet which shows off the upcoming Meizu M6S, and its side-facing fingerprint scanner. Thus far, a number of leaks surfaced, some of which claimed that the phone will sport a side-facing fingerprint scanner, some that it will ship with an in-display fingerprint scanner, read on.

Meizu actually managed to confuse everyone by releasing a rather revealing teaser quite recently, a teaser image which contained a smartphone which has a fingerprint image on its display. That seemed like a clear indication that the phone will sport an in-display fingerprint scanner, especially considering that neither of the fingers in that image were not placed on the phone’s home key, so the company clearly did not want to suggest that we’re looking at a side-facing fingerprint scanner. Well, this leaked pamphlet clearly says that a side-facing fingerprint scanner is coming, and we won’t know for sure until the company announces the phone tomorrow, but chances are that we are looking at a side-facing unit here, as Synaptics said that it started manufacturing in-display fingerprint scanners for the world’s top 5 smartphone manufacturers a while back, and Meizu is still not there. Chances are that Vivo will be the first company to release a smartphone which sports an in-display fingerprint scanner, a device which Vivo and Synaptics showed off at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

The Meizu M6S will be the company’s all-new budget smartphone, and it seems like it will sport on-screen button, and a front-facing fingerprint scanner will not be a part of the package. This essentially means that the company will get rid of its physical, multifunctional mBack button, and Meizu may actually utilize the phone’s on-screen buttons to perform more actions than usual. The device is expected to ship with Samsung’s Exynos 7872 64-bit hexa-core processor, 3GB / 4GB of RAM and a 5.7-inch display. A 2,930mAh non-removable battery had also been mentioned by TENAA (China’s equivalent to the FCC), and the device will be made out of metal, and sport rather thin bezels, it seems.
