OnePlus has just released a new teaser on its official Weibo (Chinese social media) page, and it seems like a Sandstone OnePlus 5T variant will be announced on January 5 in China. If you take a look at the provided image down below, you will clearly see the date highlighted in it, and in addition to that, the company mentioned the word ‘stone’ on this image as well, though you probably can’t sport it considering that the text is in Chinese.
As most of you probably already know, OnePlus released a teaser video last week, letting people feel (by touch, without looking) a new product that the company placed in the box, and based on their impressions, more or less everyone said that the company is planning to launch a sandstone version of the OnePlus 5T. Well, based on today’s teaser image, that variant of the phone is coming, and will land in China in two days. For those of you who do not know, OnePlus had introduced a Star Wars variant of the OnePlus 5T a while back, and that device arrived with a sandstone back, instead of metal, which makes it far less slippery. Well, the upcoming sandstone variant of the OnePlus 5T will probably sport that very same material, but won’t arrive with ‘Star Wars’ branding, of course. We still do not know if the company is planning to introduce a white sandstone OnePlus 5T, which would mean that it matches the Star Wars edition, or will we see a Gray / Black variant of the phone.
In any case, the upcoming sandstone OnePlus 5T is expected to be available around the globe, as the Star Wars model was limited to India and Scandinavian countries. If this phone becomes a reality, it will probably come with the same price tag as the original OnePlus 5T unit, though chances are OnePlus will offer the sandstone model in an 8GB RAM variant only, but we’re only guessing at this point. The device will be completely identical to the original OnePlus 5T in terms of specs, it will be fueled by the Snapdragon 835 64-bit octa-core SoC, and sport a 6.01-inch fullHD+ Optic AMOLED display. The device will ship with a 3,300mAh non-removable battery, and Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, while the company’s OxygenOS will be included on top of it.
