Razer’s Project Linda fuses a laptop with the Razer Phone, a concept project that attempts to offer users and owners of the Razer Phone a way to dock the device into a laptop to get the best of both the Android ecosystem and a laptop experience in one package. Perhaps unsurprisingly the laptop dock that the Razer phone slots into looks just like Razer’s line of Blade laptops that run on Windows 10, save for a couple of key details, one of those being that the laptop has no touch pad. Where the touch pad used to be is where you will dock the phone. The interesting bit is that it sits flat and acts as the touchscreen mouse so you basically still have a touch pad, or you can use the phone display as a second screen that you can interact with akin to the setup on a Nintendo 3DS, letting you adjust various settings for the laptop like changing the Chroma effects.
The laptop itself is powered by the Razer Phone the moment you slide it into the dock port and press a button to activate the link between the two pieces of hardware, with the Snapdragon 835 processor and the Razer Phone’s 8GB of RAM driving the system. Once the phone is docked the laptop becomes a laptop that runs on Android and lets you use your Razer Phone in a laptop setting for anything from playing games to watching video.
The laptop comes with a full-size keyboard complete with Chroma backlighting, and it features a 13.3-inch Quad HD display as well as a 3.5mm audio port, a USB-A port, a USB-C port, and 200GB of internal storage space which can be used for apps, games, or other types of media and files. Project Linda also comes with a 720p webcam and a dual array microphone, which could both be used for video chat. Right now Project Linda is just a concept and Razer hasn’t mentioned whether or not it plans to actually launch this as a product for consumers. Both of Razer’s most notable concepts from CES 2017, the tri-screen Blade Pro laptop and the projector, better known as Project Valerie and Project Ariana respectively, have yet to receive a launch, which stands to reason that Project Linda may very well meet the same fate and go no further than a concept idea. That said, there are already similar devices like it out there, such as Samsung’s DeX dock, so Razer’s Project Linda hypothetically has a good chance of launching.
