As the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) continues to elude the market, the Korean OEM appears to be gearing up for the smartphone’s debut, at least in Russia where a couple of accessories for the device have been recently spotted on the company’s official website. Specifically, this includes two protective covers for the device called the Jelly Cove and Dual Layer, both of which seem to be offered in a variety of color options ranging from black, white, and blue to gold and pink.
Samsung’s Galaxy J2 series is expected to receive a new sequel this year and over the past several weeks, the number of leaks surrounding the device has been on the rise. As yet it’s unclear exactly when the Galaxy J2 (2018) will be released but recent evidence suggests that Samsung might be preparing for bringing the smartphone to Russia before spring. The two protective covers that are now listed on the official Samsung website in Russia confirm that a new Galaxy J2 model is on the way, and although pricing details for the covers are missing, it’s worth reminding that a retailer in Russia seemingly revealed the smartphones’ launch price prematurely near the end of 2017, unsurprisingly placing the device well within the budget-friendly segment. As for the cases at hand, the Jelly Cove weighs 17.3 grams and measures 146.3 x 74.4 x 10.3mm in size, whereas the Dual Layer cover is slightly thicker and heavier, clocking in at 146 x 76.3 x 11.4mm and 28.9 grams. As the name suggests, the Dual Layer cover comes with an inner soft cushion layer for improved shock resistance, as well as a harder outer layer providing resistance from scratches.
Also worth noting is that the smartphone showcased on Samsung Russia looks identical to the device that was priced at RUB 7,990 ($139) by one Russian retailer last week, lending more credibility to the validity of the previous leak. As far as specifications go, the Samsung Galaxy J2 (2018) is expected to carry a 5-inch Super AMOLED panel with a conventional 16:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 960 by 540 pixels, all the while carrying a quad-core 64-bit processor based on ARM Cortex-A53 cores and coupled with the Adreno 308 graphics chip, as well as 1.5GB of RAM.
