Seagate, like many other companies out there, has decided to announce new products at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Seagate has just introduced four new devices, the LaCie DJI Copilot, Rugged SECURE Fast SSD and Joy Drive. The LaCie DJI Copilot is the first gadget that we’ll talk about, and this device was designed by Neil Poulton. Having said that, this is a storage solution for drone users, and it’s meant to be a way for you to quickly review the content you’ve taken with a drone, without the need to hook anything up to your PC. The LaCie DJI Copilot can actually be connected to your smartphone, so, that way, you can review and upload files directly from your handset. If, for example, you’re filming footage on your drone by using a microSD card, you can simply insert that microSD card into the LaCie DJI Copilot, and hook the device up to your smartphone, though this gadget also comes with a USB port as well. On top of everything, this gadget also comes with a built-in battery, so it serves as an external battery source as well. The LaCie DJI Copilot comes with 2TB of storage, and it’s priced at $349 in the US, while it will become available in the Spring.
The second gadget we’ll talk about here is aimed at users in China and Indonesia, as those are the two countries with some of the highest concentrations of smartphones on the planet, says Seagate. In any case, the device in question is called the Seagate Joy Drive. This is essentially a portable hard drive which comes with 1TB of storage, and which can be hooked up to your phone without a problem, which makes it ideal to carry around. This gadget will cost 660 Yuan ($99) in China, and it will probably also become available in the Spring, though Seagate did not share any info regarding its availability. The third gadget Seagate announced today is called the Seagate Fast SSD, which is a portable flash drive which can transfer files up to 540MB/s. This gadget is shock-resistant, and it comes with USB Type-C connectivity. This gadget is actually extremely compact, and it comes in 250GB, 500GB, and 1TB variants, and those three variants will have a street price of $99, $169 and $349 in the US, respectively, while they will become available for purchase in spring.
The last gadget that the company announced today is called the LaCie Rugged Secure. This is also a hard drive, as expected, though unlike other gadgets on the list, this is a rugged device. In case you’re working in extreme conditions, or perhaps go camping frequently, this may be the best choice for you. This is the first rugged drive to include hardware encryption using Seagate Secure technology, says the company. After you disconnect this hard drive from your PC, it will automatically lock itself, for security purposes. The LaCie Rugged Secure will be priced at $139, and it will arrive in a 2TB flavor only, while you’ll be able to purchase it in the US in the Spring. On top of everything, Seagate has also announced its partnership with Adobe, as the company will provide its customers with a limited-time, no-cost access to Adobe’s latest applications bundled with the most popular Seagate and LaCie drives.
