TAG Heuer Launches Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond

TAG Heuer has launched the Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond, a new version of its first Android Wear smartwatch that was announced last March, only it uses precious metals for the band and watch case, and the bezel as well as other parts of the watch are encrusted with diamonds. The new watch will be the same as the original Connected Modular 45 when it comes to the internals, so the main differences will be the build material of the watch and its outer design elements.

Specifically the watch is made of 18K PD125 polished white gold, and TAG Heuer has fitted 23.35 carats of baguette-sized diamonds around the watch bezel, the watch bracelet, and the watch lugs, giving this a much more luxury feel than you might find from the original model. The Modular 45 also comes with a mechanical watch core that can be swapped out for the Android Wear core at any time to be a standard watch. If this seems like a generous inclusion it certainly is, and the main reason for that is because the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond costs about $197,000 USD. Consumers who are able to pay that kind of money for a device of this nature will be spending a lot but they’ll also getting something that will allow the watch to remain a relevant time piece, because once the Android Wear platform advances beyond the capabilities of the Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond, owners can simply transform it into the standard mechanical watch instead.

In regards to the diamonds there are 589 of them in total, with 78 of them being around the bezel, 16 of them being on the lugs, and the remaining 489 being placed along the watch bracelet. Since the Full Diamond is just like the original Connected Modular 45 in terms of specs and features, it comes running on Android Wear 2.0, and it’s water resistant up to 50 meters meaning you can wear it without worrying that rain or sweat will damage the watch. It also has GPS and NFC so you can use it for Android Pay mobile payments. Though TAG Heuer has mentioned the cost of the watch it was just unveiled on January 15th, and there is currently no mention of a launch date or availability. The Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond isn’t the only new watch that TAG Heuer has announced recently, as it also unveiled the Connected Modular 41, a smaller version of the original Connected Modular 45.
