It seems like Chrome Canary just received a new feature, and it’s called ‘Chrome Duplex’. Now, we’ve recently reported that the ‘Chrome Home’ option in both Chrome Canary and Chrome Beta has disappeared, although, we still do not know whether it disappeared because it’s ready to be rolled out to a stable version of Chrome, or because Google is scrapping it completely. For those of you who are not in the loop, the Chrome Home’ option stood for a bottom-placed address bar, and it’s a feature that can still be activated in stable version of Chrome through the ‘flags’ menu, even though it never officially rolled out as a regular option to Google’s browser on Android.
In any case, the Chrome Duplex feature was first spotted about a week ago, and Chrome Canary just received this option, though keep in mind that you will need to activate it through the ‘flags’ menu. If you’re interested, open Chrome Canary, in the address bar type in the following “chrome://flags”, and once the menu appears, search for ‘duplex’, once you find it, simply enable it. Chrome Canary will need to be relaunched after you do that, and once everything loads, you will have a new layout on your hands. In Chrome Duplex, the address bar is placed on the top of your display, same goes for a tab counter, and settings menu, so you’ll basically get a setup as you would in a regular Chrome browser, well, at least as far as the top of the display is concerned. At the bottom, however, you will notice a sliding panel that will let you access your most visited sites, and previously visited web pages, and it’s quite possible that news articles will be included in the future update as well, as is the case in stable Chrome version.
Now, do keep in mind that Chrome Canary is the least stable version of Chrome, pre-beta even, so do expect to encounter some bugs here, especially if you activate Chrome Duplex. The bottom tab seems to be way too big, and it seems like the performance isn’t the best either, it seems like Google still has plenty of work to do as far as Chrome Duplex is concerned.
