Huawei P Smart Out In UK Exclusively Through Vodafone

Huawei’s P Smart is now available for purchase in the United Kingdom, being available exclusively through the local division of Vodafone, the wireless carrier said Thursday, shortly after announcing its intentions to carry the Android-powered device. The wording of Vodafone’s latest statement on the matter suggests the P Smart may eventually be available through more carriers or electronics retailers, with the company describing the device as being exclusive to its network until February 28th. Consumers are able to pick up the smartphone on a two-year plan for £9 down and £17 per month, with that price tag translating to a full retail value of just under £420, or $600. Besides the handset itself, that fee will also net you unlimited texts, 250 minutes of calls, and 250MB of data on a monthly basis.

Those interested in beefier mobile Internet plans are able to purchase Huawei’s P Smart with 16GB of monthly data for the price of getting 4GB by taking advantage of the Red Extra 16GB plan for £29 per month, as well as a £9 upfront fee. The same plan includes unlimited texts and minutes to all networks in the county. The wireless carrier is quick to point out that its Red Extra and Red Entertainment plans also come with a number of digital passes to choose from, allowing its customers to decide whether they want to have unlimited data for their social media, chatting, music, or video streaming activities. An extra £15 per month will allow you to have all four combined, though every option will require you to pay £9 for the handset in advance.

The device itself is meant to compete in the upper mid-range segment of the market, boasting specs that are close to those of Android flagships but coming with a more affordable price tag. The P Smart features HiSilicon’s Kirin 659 chip and 4GB of RAM, as well as 64GB of internal flash memory expandable via a microSD card slot by up to 256GB. Those who don’t need a microSD card will be able to insert a second nano SIM one into the phone which also sports a 3.5mm audio jack and 5.65-inch FHD+ display with an elongated 18:9 aspect ratio. A dual-camera setup is also part of the package, entailing a 13-megapixel sensor and a 2-megapixel module supported by a dual-LED flash, with the Huawei-made device being powered by a 3,000mAh battery and running Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box.
