Chinese smartphone manufacturer Nubia on Friday announced its latest mobile offering in the form of the Nubia N3. The handset will be available in China starting on March 24, and consumers may choose among three available color options, namely the Nebula Red, Obsidian Black, and Space Gold variants. The Nubia N3 sports a display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a resolution of 2160 by 1080 pixels. In contrast to the Nubia N2 which sported capacitive navigation buttons below the display, the Nubia N3 now utilizes on-display navigation keys. The dual cameras of the smartphone are placed near the upper right corner of the smartphone’s rear panel, while its LED flash is positioned directly beside that setup. A back-mounted fingerprint reader is also part of the package, as is a USB Type-C port.
The Nubia N3 is powered by the Snapdragon 625 chipset from Qualcomm, with the SoC comprising an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 configuration running at a maximum frequency of 2.0GHz and the Adreno 506 GPU. The smartphone includes 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage, which can be expanded using a microSD card. There is no information available regarding the sensors of the handset’s rear shooters, although the front-facing camera is equipped with one 16-megapixel module. To keep the lights on, the handset contains a 5,000mAh battery, and also supports Qualcomm’s Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Furthermore, the Nubia N3 also features built-in voice controls which are said to be deeply integrated into the device and should hence facilitate navigation.
The Nubia N3 will ship with Android Nougat and the company’s own Nubia UI, meaning it won’t support Google’s Project Treble and it’s presently unclear whether it will ever even receive an upgrade to Android 8.0 Oreo. At this point, there is no available information regarding the pricing of the device, although more details on the matter are likely to be disclosed by the firm in the coming days.
