Huawei P20 To Sport Super Slow Motion Video Recording: Leak

A leaked teaser video pertaining to the upcoming Huawei P20 series suggests that at least one of the upcoming smartphones in the lineup will boast super slow motion video recording capabilities and three main camera modules on the back panel. Although there already have been leaks and rumors surrounding the triple camera configuration that may be employed by the Huawei P20 Pro, it’s the first time for super slow motion recording to be hinted at by the OEM. The video doesn’t specify whether the entire Huawei P20 lineup will take advantage of super slow motion, but either way, the short clip also confirms that the series should be unveiled in less than a couple of weeks form the time of this writing.

The Huawei P20 lineup is supposed to be made of three smartphone models including the standard P20, the P20 Lite, as well as the P20 Pro, the latter of which is unsurprisingly meant to hit the shelves as the more powerful and best-equipped variant of the three. Based on all the specifications leaked so far, the camera configuration should differ greatly from one model to the other, and while the Huawei P20 Pro is expected to carry three main cameras on the back, the other two variants should have a dual camera setup instead. The standard Huawei P20 is expected to adopt a 20-megapixel main sensor coupled with a 12-megapixel shooter and a dual-LED flash, whereas the Huawei P20 Lite should employ a 16-megapixel main camera paired with a secondary 2-megapixel sensor and an LED flash. On the other hand, the Huawei P20 Pro should boast a 20-megapixel main unit coupled with a 12 and 2-megapixel sensor, as well as a dual-LED flash. All three models will offer phase detection autofocus and HDR, and both the P20 and P20 Pro – sans the Lite – also offer laser autofocus while relying on Leica optics.

It’s interesting to see Huawei wanting to hop on the slow motion bandwagon following the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S9 series which happens to be able and record videos at a rate of 960fps, but Huawei isn’t the only OEM to do so. More details pertaining to the Huawei P20 series should be officially unveiled on March 27, the same day when another smartphone from China said to offer slow motion video recording – the Meizu Mi MIX 2S – will be presented on stage during a separate event.
