Lenovo Group’s Vice President, Chang Cheng, has once more teased fresh details that are likely to come with the upcoming Lenovo S5, which is scheduled to debut soon in Beijing, China. Chang revealed via his Weibo page that the Lenovo S5’s operating system will be including a native artificial intelligence support. Beyond that information, there’s no word on how the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will modify the OS for the mobile device, which is expected to run on ZUI 3.5 OS based on Android Oreo, in order to give way to what will supposedly be a smart operating system.
This is not the first time that Chang hinted at what users might expect to see in the soon-to-be-launched Lenovo S5. The Lenovo VP most recently took to Weibo showing off what looked like a render for the front panel of the handset. Nevertheless, the render did not disclose any further detail about the Lenovo S5 at least in terms of the design, except for the likelihood that the device will sport a full screen in an all-metal frame, which is typically used in the Asian market to describe what is otherwise known as a bezel-less design with an aspect ratio of 18:9. Previous rumors indicate that the phone will ship with a dual-camera setup on the back, a facial recognition tool, and a native payment system. Like the recent hints produced by Chang, this latest teaser from his Weibo account suggests that the device will be officially unveiled on March 20.
According to previous reports, Lenovo S5 is likely to ship with a huge 6,000mAh battery, which should be more than enough to keep the phone running for several days on end or offer at least 10 hours of on-screen time. Although it’s not yet known how the AI functionality will play a role in the device, it’s possible that the AI component of the OS is designed to manage the processor and optimize the device for a more seamless and better performance over time. Based on Chang’s previous clues, it’s likely that the phone will include a Snapdragon 625 system-on-chip. One possible color variant for the phone is red, though more options are likely coming up once Lenovo officially launches the device.
