LG has just announced a new entry-level smartphone in its homeland, South Korea, the LG X4. This new handset seems to be made out of metal and plastic, for the most part, and it comes with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. In addition to that the device features a single camera on its back side, and interestingly enough, its loudspeaker is also placed on the back of the phone, which is not something we see often lately, as speakers are usually bottom or front-firing these days, but this is an entry-level phone after all, so… this is not all that surprising.
Now, this new smartphone comes with LG Pay, LG’s very own payment solution, while it also has HD DMB support for mobile TV. This smartphone is clearly made for the South Korean market, as were other X-series smartphones by LG, so don’t expect to see it launched outside LG’s homeland. The LG X4 features a 5.3-inch HD (1280 x 720) IPS display, while the phone also includes 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 16GB of expandable storage. All in all, this handset is quite compact, despite the fact its bezels are not the thinnest out there. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 64-bit quad-core processor fuels this handset, and it comes with the Adreno 308 GPU for graphics processing. Android 7.1.2 Nougat comes pre-installed on the LG X4, while you will find LG’s custom UI on top of it, of course. An 8-megapixel snapper is included on the back side of this smartphone, while a 5-megapixel shooter sits on the front side of the phone. A 3,000mAh non-removable battery is also a part of the package, as is a 3.5mm headphone jack.
On top of everything, this handset also comes with an FM Radio, and Bluetooth 4.2, while it supports 4G LTE connectivity as well. NFC is included, as it is needed for LG Pay to function, and that is pretty much it. The phone comes in Black and Gold color variants, while it is priced at 297,000 won in South Korea, which translates to $273. The phone can already be purchased from all three major carriers in South Korea, SKT, KT and LG Uplus.
