The Moment Unleashes Mobile Lens For Pixel & Galaxy Devices

Startup company The Moment has a new Kickstarter campaign that’s bound to be popular with video enthusiasts who happen to own a newer Samsung Galaxy flagship or Google Pixel 2. The Moment Filmmaker Collection line-up boasts protective phone cases specially designed to fit with camera accessories for the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 family of handsets – or with Google’s Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL. The main attraction among those is the company’s Anamorphic Lens attachment. That adds a magnification rated at a horizontally squeezed 1.33x zoom and a de-squeezed aspect ratio of 2.40:1. That technically means that shots will need to be fixed via software after shooting. However, in the shortest possible terms, the lens simply allows for more truly cinematic captures thanks to premium materials used and a proprietary lens coating. Better still, it’s rotatable, so that video can be grabbed in either a vertical or horizontal orientation.

With that said, the company doesn’t stop there, either. In fact, there are no fewer than five other lenses available for use with the case to ensure that every shot is captured perfectly. Those include a wide-angle lens, telephoto lens, a macro lens, filter mount, and a fisheye lens which the company calls Superfish. Most of those are self-explanatory, but the filter mount stands out as something that may set this collection of attachments apart. That’s because it allows any standard 62mm filter to be used with any one of the above-mentioned lenses – allowing for a much wider diversity over filming aspects involved in manipulating lighting and overall effects. Finally, the company has its very own universal gimbal counterweight attachment which can be configured on the fly at 60g, 90g, or 120g. That should help make any gimbal just a bit more stable. It goes without saying, though, that these won’t necessarily be cheap. Early bird packages run from just $29 for the gimbal attachment up to $999 for every piece of the system. But that’s at a pretty steep discount, according to the backer reward descriptions and it looks as though buying just the phone case with an anamorphic lens will cost around $200 at retail.

Most of the backer rewards for this Kickstarter are gone by this point since the company managed to meet its goal in just 41 minutes. However, that obviously means these smartphone accessories are likely to be a pretty hot set of products when it begins shipping in July. So it is still well worth a look and anybody interested in more details can hit the button below.
