The Moto E5 Play has passed through the certification process of the Wi-Fi Alliance. Based on the interoperability certificate released by the organization, it seems that the device, which can be identified through the model number XT1944-5, will be powered by the Snapdragon 425 chipset from the semiconductor firm Qualcomm. This chipset is comprised of an octa-core ARM Cortex A53 64-bit CPU and the Adreno 308 GPU. Moreover, the interoperability certificate also shows that the handset can connect to Wi-Fi networks running on the 2.4GHz frequency.
The certification released by the Wi-Fi Alliance also confirms that the device will ship with Android 8.0 Oreo pre-installed, which means that the users of the handset can take advantage of features like the Picture-in-Picture mode, the autofill functionality, and the notification dots feature. The Picture-in-Picture mode permits people to view two applications at the same time by showing one app in a smaller window on top of another application, while the autofill functionality remembers important information like usernames and passwords in an effort to reduce the time spent by the user in logging in to websites and apps. On the other hand, the notification dots feature informs consumers on which app has notifications directly on the home screen. Earlier reports have mentioned that the Moto E5 Play will also sport the Moto Actions feature. The Moto Actions functionality enables people to control their smartphones and perform certain actions by using gestures.
Recent rumors claim that the Moto E5 Play will be made out of plastic, and it will sport a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280 by 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. Reports also state that the device will contain either 2GB or 3GB of RAM and it will include a 4,000mAh non-removable battery to keep its lights on. The rear camera of the handset will reportedly be equipped with a 12-megapixel sensor while the front-facing selfie shooter will have a 5-megapixel snapper, according to previous leaks. Evan Blass also claimed that the Moto E5 Play will be sold by Cricket Wireless and Verizon, and it will be known as the Moto E5 Cruise. Renders of the device, which were also shared by Evan Blass, show that the smartphone will utilize on-display navigation buttons, while only the logo of the device maker can be found below the handset’s display.
