The Moto Z3 Play, an upcoming device from the smartphone manufacturer Motorola, has passed through the certification process of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Based on the documents submitted by the device maker to the telecommunications regulator, the Moto Z3 Play will be powered by the Snapdragon 636 chipset from the semiconductor firm Qualcomm. This SoC is comprised of an octa-core Kryo 260 CPU and the Adreno 509 GPU. In addition, the submitted documents show that the variants of the device sold in the United States, Latin America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa), and the Asia Pacific will include 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal flash storage. On the other hand, the variants of the device sold in Canada and by the American carrier Verizon will only contain 32GB of internal flash storage.
The test documents submitted by the device maker also shows that the North American variant of the Moto Z3 Play is compatible with the LTE bands used by all major national US carriers. In fact, this variant of the handset even supports the LTE band 71 (600MHz) that T-Mobile is currently rolling out across the country. The test report also shows that both single-SIM and dual-SIM models will be available in Latin America, Brazil, EMEA, and the Asia Pacific while only the single SIM models will be sold in North America. The FCC documents also mention that all variants of the Moto Z3 Play will support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, NFC, and Bluetooth 5.0.
Previous rumors have mentioned that the Moto Z3 Play will sport a 6-inch display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a fullHD+ resolution. Moreover, earlier reports claim that the handset will support the expansion of the internal storage using a microSD card and that the device will remove the 3.5mm headphone jack. The smartphone is expected to sport a dual rear camera setup, which is equipped with one 12-megapixel snapper and one 8-megapixel sensor. The handset’s front-facing selfie shooter, on the other hand, is expected to sport a 5-megapixel sensor. To keep its lights on, the handset will likely include a 3,000mAh battery. It has been rumored that the Moto Z3 Play will be launched towards the beginning of summer.
